The Catholic Tradition Lecture Series 2
Celebrating 10 Years of Laudato Si’
The concept of Integral Ecology makes the Encyclical Laudato Si’ a milestone of the Catholic Ecological thoughts. Although it is not elaborated in the encyclical, the root of this concept can be traced to the thoughts of the French Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and Fr. Thomas Berry. According to their insights, all the creatures of the cosmos are interconnected and interdependent. They shared the same origin and the same goal. God is their Creator and the ultimate destiny. There is no longer any dualistic understanding of human and nature.
Our Centre is greatly delighted to have Prof. Mary Evelyn Tucker and Prof. John Grim, renowned scholars of Teilhard de Chardin and Thomas Berry, delivering a lecture for us during their visit to Hong Kong.
