Human Fraternity and Social Friendship: An Inter-Religious Dialogue「人類兄弟情誼與社會友誼」宗教交談研討會
On 4 February, 2019 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Pope Francis and Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, jointly signed the historic “Abu Dhabi Declaration,” a “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together.” That document aims to strengthen the relationships among peoples, promote world peace and development, and the harmonious coexistence of plural cultures.
On 9 December,2021 the Centre for Catholic Studies and the Centre for the Study of Islamic Culture, both at CUHK, will co-sponsor an inter-faith dialogue. We will draw upon the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” as the foundation and extend the occasion as a conference addressing dialogue among various religions. Twelve scholars representing different religions will present papers, to explore how the major religions can work together in various contexts to facilitate the building of a peaceful and fraternal society in Hong Kong.
